Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship
TU/e offers a Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship (CTE) for students interested in starting their own business. The CTE program helps students to improve their entrepreneurial skills and is open to all master, PD-eng and PHD students. The certificate is awarded jointly by the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences and the TU/e Innovation Lab. The Brabant Center of Entrepreneurship organizes and coordinates the CTE program.
CTE Programm
The certificate program starts two times a year and has three components:
1. Coursework
Each student will earn a total of 9 ECTS (credits) from the Basic Entrepreneurship Course (Technology Entrepreneurship) plus two electives selected from the following list:
- System Dynamics - Entrepreneurial Marketing - Social Entrepreneurship - Corporate Entrepreneurship - Entrepreneurial Finance - Business Law - Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility - New Media, Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Each entrepreneurship course is worth 3 ECTS and is open for all TU/e students.
2. Skills Training Sessions and Assessment
As part of its CTE program, BCE organizes 12 skills training session through the Experience Center. Each student must take a minimum of 6 sessions, which will be recommended for them based on a personal assessment. Some of the topics of the skills training sessions are:
- Time Management - Commercial Skills - Finance - Decision making Skills - New Media - Personal Branding - Debating Skills - Intercultural Communications - Sales Pitching - Creativity Skills - Presentation Skills
3. Final Project
The most important part of the CTE program is the Final Project. During this 3-4 month project you will write a business plan. The business plan ideas are taken from research being done at the TU/e or business ideas presented by the students themselves. TU/e ideas will generally need some fleshing out, in terms of both the technology itself and its economic potential. Since no single person generally possesses the knowledge required for this, several projects based on the same idea are sometimes combined (with students from different disciplines). The Final Project contains an idea creation sessions, a brainstorm session, masterclasses and all this with the help of a professional coach.
