Entrepreneurship Guest Lecture: Trends and Success Factors

<  Back

Do you have that entrepreneurial itch? Come be inspired by Adjiedj Bakas, trend watcher, and Mirjam van Praag, Director of the Amsterdam Center of Entrepreneurship. They will be giving a lecture on:

October 1st, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in auditorium “Zaal WZ 1.”

Adjiedj Bakas

Trend watcher Adjiedj Bakas likes to challenge assumptions and remains eternally optimistic, even in times of economic decay. He claims that “Times of crisis are the best times!" and, in fact, his motto is: “Head winds make a kite soar higher.” Bakas reminds us that humankind is always evolving and that every crisis is just another step in that progression, even if it causes us to become derailed. In the Netherlands, Bakas was elected “Trend watcher of the Year” in 2009 and “Immigrant Businessman of the Year” in 2008. He has published several global bestsellers.

Mirjam van Praag

Mirjam van Praag is Professor of Entrepreneurship and Organization at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the academic director of the Amsterdam Center for Entrepreneurship (ACE), where she performs research and endeavors to instill a love of entrepreneurship in students. Van Praag is convinced that entrepreneurship is not something you are born with, but rather something you can be taught. “Research shows that a good education increases the chances of success for entrepreneurs. More importantly, education for entrepreneurs is more valuable than for employees.”
